Part IV: Wide Roads, Big Steps

Part IV Wide Roads, Big Steps

Part III: You Just Don't Get It has come to an end.  Here is a summary of what happened.

Dell and the World Worshipers have since then survived a battle in the woods just outside of Sam's Town against an international multi-agency attack force.  Mara, his recently made girlfriend, survived too. Many did not though yet the World Worshipers are not ready to quit.  They plan to move over a thousand other combat-ready Worshipers into Sam's Town.  The surprising surge in military support was lost on Dell when he found out that his Mother and Brother were taken away during the conflict and taken more inland.  Will Dell ever reunite with his family?  Is the military push from the Worshipers the beginning of a civil war or just a spike in a small angry cult?

As a result of the battle in Sam's Town Clarence, who was originally sent to investigate a kidnapping, is promoted to an uneasy position that puts him in command of the remaining assault team.  Will his leadership be enough to curb the defeat and loss of man power?  Will he ever learn what Dell knew and connect it to Senator Baxton's murder?

Ex-Ambassador Seamus Grant has learned more about his cell mate Mark Mann. Mann is bitter and easily angered but doesn't want trouble either.  He tests Grant's durability the first time they meet with some prison humor and Grant finds himself sick and scared.  Nonetheless Grant is ambitious and reaches out to other inmates hoping to build a convict network- enough to keep him alive.

Grant is in the International Cretan Super Prison and so that is where Nancy is going.  She landed in Spain and was almost robbed.  But she was saved by just a few moments by a long lost friend, Ador.  With this she realized Spain was not the same as when she left.  Further, there are a number of mobile open-air cities funded by the collective resources of poor liberal students and some wealthy members of Spanish aristocracy.  These towns are changing the face of Spanish and European political battles.  Nancy struggles to find her place among the many people and ideas.  But with the help of Ador and Ador's friend Matin they begin to head towards Crete.

Norris is a new addition to the group of characters.  She, unlike the rest, is American.  She likes American made products and ideas.  She works at a unexciting job that she enjoys.  One day she goes to work and suspects there is a break-in in progress.  The intruder leaves but sees her when he exits.  He mentions Clarence and asks her to say 'hello' to him.  He leaves her unharmed but takes her computers.  Without time to think about what was lost Norris pulls up her sleeves and gets on with her day.
