Clarence
turned and made his way past a row of cubicles filled with officers pretending
not to notice Coarse pack his things away.
Clink, Schwoosh. Coarse set a
coffee mug inside of a cardboard box and then pulled the box closer to him.
“Ok,” Coarse began as if Clarence had been there the whole time. “I’ll stay on
the case as a consultant but it’s not going to go the way you want it. Like I said they won’t want my name anywhere
near this case especially on a paycheck.”
“Well
I can’t promise any paychecks. And
remember you still owe me a story.”
Coarse
scrunched his face and nodded, “Ok, well this one is more of a life lesson than
a story. But if you look at life as a
jungle, see, and that there may be a lion or a slippery slope around the next
corner you got to think of it like this: see, sure you run the fastest down
slopes but you got to watch out, make sure you don’t run right into the lion’s
den.”
